GEL REMOVAL
First of all, I would like to dispel a misconception: nails need a rest sometimes.
The nail is a cornified plate. If you want to get rid of gel, because you want stronger or natural nails, that's fine: Japanese manicure, vitamins, nail care, skin care, massage is what you should focus on... you can enhance the regeneration phase with countless practices.
However, if you want to get rid of gel in order to tidy up your nails, and then start to cover them with gel again, saying "I'm going to let my nails breathe a little", then this is a wrong approach. It takes for about 3 months until the bottom of the nail plate reaches the tip of your fingers (so a few weeks are not enough for a full recovery, and to be honest if the nail plate is not overfiled, then it's unnecessary).

GEL REMOVAL WITH MANICURE
I properly remove the gel from the nail plate, then I do a professional manicure (with beeswax, if it's required), shorten the nails sufficiently, and I finish the service with applying cuticle oil/hand lotion. Before my client leaves I give her a few good tips/ideas for future hand care.
