NAIL EXTENSION REMOVAL
After this thicker, very stable layer comes off the nail, it feels very strange at first. The nail plate may be sensitive for a few days, even if it is not overfiled. I recommend to keep the nails as short as possible, until the stronger nail plate reaches the free edge.
Also, I prefer to do a Japanese Manicure to pamper the natural nails, or to apply a thin layer of hardener, so the weaker parts of your nails still have some kind of protection until they grow out/off completely.
I personally do not recommend removing nail extensions at home by yourself (you can cause serious damages to your nail plate and it takes for about 3 months until your nails recover completely: this is how long it takes for the nail plate to grow from the matrix through the nail bed until it reaches the tip of finger).
If you tear up your nail plate, or file your nails too much, then your nail plate might separate from the nail bed and at the lifted parts bacterials, fungus can easily find a way to cause you unpleasant future experiences.

REMOVAL
I properly file off the extension material, then I do the choosen manicure, shorten the nails sufficiently, and I finish the service with applying cuticle oil/hand lotion. Before my client leaves I give her a few good tips/ideas for future hand care.
